Tea Garden

This past Monday we painted at Tea Garden Centennial Covered Bridge. Many old sycamore trees live along this creek. Moss and fallen leaves on the intricate roots of this sycamore challenged me to paint them. Brilliant sunlight in November day gave a glow to the distant trees. Shadows on the stream caught gemlike reflections of deep green & orange.

Yellow Sycamore

Monday paint-out at Beaver Creek State Park was rainy. I started a larger painting on stretched canvas, but gave in to the rain. We returned the next day to finish this yellow sycamore at the edge of the creek.

Sycamore In Poland Forest

Our Plein Air painting group met in the Poland Municipal Forest yesterday. There are several huge Sycamore trees that must be hundreds of years old. This one is hollow, & one wonders how is stays alive, let alone what keeps it from breaking apart. Such lovely sculpture. The floor of this woods will soon be covered with the blue bluebells.

Sycamore In Summer

This really was painting in the heat of the summer. The wonder of it is that when sitting beside a stream in the green shade of a park, painting a study of a sycamore against the many shades of green, the summer heat is just part of the mix that keeps me in a state of mellowness.
