Beaver Creek Spring

Plein Air in Beaver Creek State Park. Sitting alongside a stream, hearing the bird calls, soaking up the peace of a place, nothing compares. Three of my artist friends joined me here, Sheri, Carol and Peppe! Thank you friends.

Beaver Creek Summer

We had a good artist turnout this week! We all sort of crowded down along the creek again. Nothing like water reflections to give a glow to a painting and a flow to the composition.

Sprucevale Spring

We felt spring had finally arrived this past Plein Air Meet-up at the Sprucevale area of Beaver Creek State park. What a beautiful day to bask in nature.

Autumn At Beaver Creek

A couple of weeks ago our Autumn colors were just beginning to sparkle when sunlit. The Monday painting group met at Beaver Creek State park. I set up at the east edge of the bridge with a view to the south.

Hambelton Mill

This week we painted at Sprucevale. A section of Beaver Creek State park. Hambelton's Mill is an old yellow stone building. The Dame Rocket wildflowers made a show on the floor of the woods on one side and a dirt horse path lead back from the highway on the other.

Winter Flow

One warm day in January some friends & I painted in Beaver Creek State park. I stood at one end of the bridge, the guard rail at my back to paint this view.

Yellow Sycamore

Monday paint-out at Beaver Creek State Park was rainy. I started a larger painting on stretched canvas, but gave in to the rain. We returned the next day to finish this yellow sycamore at the edge of the creek.

Ice Chunks

Ice chunks lined the  banks at Beaver Creek State Park Monday where five artists met to paint. This was the warmest day we had this year. So wonderful to be out painting again!

Beaver Creek Sycamores

Pac met at Beaver Creek State Park yesterday. There was a chill wind, but three hooded sweat shirts, a down vest, a long sleeve t-shirt, and a fuzzy long sleeve pull over kept me cozy warm. That's six layers, and no snow yet!
I painted on a square wood panel that I had treated with linseed oil. These are ready made to use with encaustic (wax). However, once treated the warm wood tone makes a fine support for oil painting.

Beaver Creek, Sunspots

Today Lupine & I went to Beaver Creek State Park. He played, jumping down a bank into the creek, while I painted en Plein Air. It was so cool & relaxing in the shade.

Midwinter

The next afternoon we drove to Beaver Creek to paint a snow scene. Well, Jody had left, but my sister Becky, Michelle, and I were on a roll. What fun to have painting companions again!

Beaver Creek, Evening Sunlight

Last evening I was looking through my viewer for a scene to paint in the Beaver Creek Park. A young man asked if I was an artist. He said he was a videographer, making a movie of the Ohio rivers. He asked if I would mind if he did a video of me painting that perhaps would be included in the river movie. I said sure, I am kind of used to people watching me work, after all I paint in public places. This is finished painting. 12" X 9" oil on canvas $350

First Month Thaw

Almost too late to get the ice melt I wanted, most of it had already melted. But I found some in the valley at Beaver State Park. I think I have more snow scenes this year already than any year I've painted. $350 oil on canvas 11" X 14"

Sycamore In Summer

This really was painting in the heat of the summer. The wonder of it is that when sitting beside a stream in the green shade of a park, painting a study of a sycamore against the many shades of green, the summer heat is just part of the mix that keeps me in a state of mellowness.
This painting was in last years Annual Hoyt Regional Juried Art Exhibition
