Franklin Park

Marianne and I each painted a demo for Michelle's art class at Capital U. one morning. That afternoon we had a few hours before picking up our paintings from a show at Columbus Art Museum. We chose to spend our time painting the gardens at Franklin Park.

Byler's Greenhouse

This past week the day of class it was raining a little too much to paint outside. So I found the perfect place! Byler's greenhouse! A few years ago the class met there to paint. They were so gracious to invite us to return any time. This is the demo for this weeks' class.

Hoyt Class Study

The first fall Hoyt Class demo. We painted under covered patio with the fall arrangement on a stool in the light. There was a light drizzle some of the evening which did not hurt the display and seemed to enhance the colors. Students were enthusiastic and designed their own interesting compositions.

An Old Geranium

Monday the Eastern Ohio Plein Air Club met at the YMCA, Boardman. Our goal was to promote the Art programs at the Y. The Mary Davis YMCA sponsors our group. They also have many other good art classes available. This lovely geranium was on display at the front desk. According to the employees  it has been around a long time.

The Peony Garden

Met up with OPAS Painters at Kingwood Gardens in Mansfield, Ohio. I painted these wonderfully scented peonies. The wind blew & wafted their scent around me. As I finished up I noticed that the last petal of the nearest pink flower was drifting to the ground.

Peonies Mid-Day

The Denver Plein Air painters met at Alamo Placita Park, which I read translates "little place of the cottonwoods". It is downtown and the section where we met was busy with gardeners. Peonies have always been one of my favorite flowers and the contrast of dark leaves and white flower drew me to them. The pink clump to the right had already been weighted to the ground.
