New Waterford
This creek runs through the center of the Village of New Waterford. The fine snow was still falling while I painted this scene. I painted until the paint became too stiff to move and granules of ice acted like sand in the paint. I was almost finished anyway. Still, even though I had taken a photo, I returned to do a few finishing touches a couple days later. There were some lovely reflections in the water. I was about to put in when 20 or so ducks swam over and stirred up the water, obliterating the reflections.

Middlefork Creek
I painted this while sitting in my car near a railroad track, about a half mile from Franklin Square. I'm pleased with the oil color combination of Manganese Blue, Mars Yellow and Burnt Sienna. SOLD
